Low Temperature Fluid Loss Additive
Our low temperature fluid loss additive FC-620S is a high-dispersity polymer powder designed for offshore oil well cementing projects. Synthesized from AMPS/AM monomers, this cement slurry additive delivers excellent salt tolerance, stable slurry fluidity and fast compressive strength development, ideal for seawater-based cement slurry systems widely adopted in China offshore oilfield operations.
For offshore well cementing construction teams, slurry fluid loss control is always one of the core links to guarantee safe and stable downhole construction. When cement slurry flows into complex stratum formations, excessive free water loss will lead to slurry density deviation, channeling risks and insufficient bonding strength between casing and formation rock. Many conventional fluid loss additives tend to cause slurry retardation, unstable free water content or poor compatibility with seawater cement systems in offshore low-temperature working environments. Our low temperature fluid loss additive FC-620S was developed to solve these practical construction pain points encountered in offshore oilfield cementing work.
FC-620S is a high-dispersion polymer fluid loss control material, synthesized through copolymerization using AMPS and AM as the core monomers, together with multiple anti-salt functional monomers. Plenty of high-adsorptive functional groups including -CONH₂, -SO₃H and -COOH are distributed on its molecular chain. These active groups firmly adsorb onto cement particle surfaces, effectively locking free water inside cement slurry, so as to cut down fluid loss volume, meanwhile endowing the finished cement system with outstanding resistance to high mineralized seawater and variable downhole temperature.
Field application data collected from offshore oil well projects shows this additive works stably within a wide temperature range, with the maximum heat-resistant temperature reaching 150℃. After being blended into cement slurry, it can significantly improve slurry flowability, restrain the generation of free water, bring stable slurry performance without delaying cement hydration reaction, so the compressive strength of hardened cement develops rapidly to form reliable downhole sealing structures.
This fluid loss agent shows great compatibility with most common oilfield cement additives, and can be matched with dispersants, defoamers and retarders to prepare different seawater cement slurry formulas. Benefiting from its strong dispersion performance, construction crews can directly prepare cement slurry with the water-cement ratio of 2.0–2.1 without adding extra weighting materials. It performs especially well in high-solid-content cement systems and formulas with a high proportion of ultrafine mineral admixtures, and has become the preferred fluid loss control material for many China offshore oil well cementing projects.
Product Core Advantages
Excellent dual performance of salt resistance and temperature resistance: the AMPS/AM copolymer molecular structure adapts to high-mineralization seawater environments and downhole temperature fluctuations, stably controlling slurry fluid loss under working temperatures up to 150℃.
Great slurry dispersion effect: it evenly disperses cement and ultrafine filler particles, improves the overall flow property of cement slurry, avoids local slurry thickening or particle flocculation during on-site mixing and pumping.
No adverse retardation impact on cement hydration: the additive will not slow down the setting progress of cement paste, ensuring fast compressive strength growth to form effective annular sealing after cement pouring.
Low free water content in finished slurry: effectively suppress the separation of free water from cement slurry, reduce the risk of water channeling in the formation, and greatly improve the sealing safety of offshore oil and gas wells.
Wide formula adaptability: compatible with various conventional oilfield cement additives, applicable to conventional seawater cement slurry, high-solid-content cement systems and ultrafine blended cement formulas.
