Acid Based Low Temperature Retarder
For shallow onshore wells, nearshore offshore cementing and low-temperature injection well construction, operators often need to accurately control cement slurry thickening time without disrupting existing slurry formulas. Our Acid Based Low Temperature Retarder is formulated with organic phosphonic acid, designed specifically for medium and low-temperature cementing environments ranging from 30℃ to 110℃.
This liquid retarder delivers predictable, linear retarding performance as you adjust its dosage. It effectively prolongs the pumpable window of cement slurry while leaving other key slurry properties unchanged, whether you prepare your cement blend with fresh water, salt water or seawater.
Lab tests conducted at 80℃ and 46.5MPa confirm its stable working performance. Under standard test formulas using Class G cement, our FC-610L fluid loss additive and matched defoamer, the initial slurry consistency stays below 30 Bc. The transition time from 40 Bc to 100 Bc never exceeds 40 minutes, with free liquid controlled within 1.4% and the 24-hour compressive strength reaching at least 14MPa.
All three grades FC-R20L, FC-R21L and FC-R22L come as colorless transparent liquid, with a standard density of 1.05±0.05 g/cm³. Unlike powder retarders, this liquid type mixes evenly into mixing water quickly, avoiding local over-retarding caused by uneven powder agglomeration during field feeding. It shows good compatibility with most conventional oil well cement additives, including our series of fluid loss additives and defoamers.
When stored in sealed containers under cool, shaded conditions, the liquid retarder maintains stable retarding performance. Keep it away from direct sunlight and extreme high temperature to avoid component degradation, and wear basic chemical protective gear during on-site dosing operations.
